September Rally Report

The weather sure cooperated and helped to make the last “official” rally of the year a great one. We had 17 coaches and a lot of fun. The food was great and the friendship even better.

Elaine and I would like to thank all of those who helped make the rally a success, especially Kay and Bill Leach who assisted in so many ways. Thanks also to John Foy for his services as official parking attendant.

And what can we say about that Jeopardy game! Lots of fun even if no one won any big cash prizes.

We hope to see you at the October dinner meeting. If not, have a safe and healthy winter and we will see you in May 2008.

 Bart & Elaine

Past President’s Report

Well, I am a civilian again. At the September meeting I turned the President’s gavel over to your new President, Bill Leach. It was not an easy thing to do.  Elaine and I have been members of the New York Centrals only six years, but for five of those six years we have been officers. Elaine was Secretary and I was 1st VP for three and President for the last two.

We have had some really great times and made many many great friends. Now I know the great times and great friendships will continue in the coming years. It is just that I don’t know what I’ll be doing. I guess I’ll have to just sit quietly at meetings and keep my mouth shut. Right, that’s likely to happen.

Anyway, I want to thank all of you for making the last five years so much fun. You all actually made the job easy and made me look good. Anytime I needed your help, whether to chair a committee, host a rally or volunteer at the North East Area Rally, YOU stepped up to the plate and helped out. Thank you all. As I have said before, the New York Centrals is a volunteer organization. It only works if you do. I’m sure each of you will step up again and provide the same help and support to Bill Leach as you did for me. I know I will. Thanks again to all of you for a great five years.

Bart

Past Secretary

I would like to thank the New York Centrals for permitting me to be the secretary for the last 5 years. I have enjoyed doing this but am very glad to be just a member again. You are a great bunch of people!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will miss the rallies next year but plan on enjoying our trip.

Thanks again!
Elaine

President Reports

This is my first report as President of the New York Centrals. You can't imagine the feelings I have to be president of this organization. We had a very good time at the Brown Barn last weekend, and I think it was mainly due to the people I was in contact with. The friendliness and support I received from everyone was tremendous. I just hope that I can live up to your expectations.

We did accomplish a lot in a short time over the weekend. Aside from the wonderful meal we enjoyed at the Buffalo Head Restaurant Friday night, the potluck breakfast Saturday morning, the catered meal Saturday night, and the catered breakfast Sunday morning, (this group does enjoy their food), we did get some work done.

I want to thank the new officers Paul Hallagan, 1st Vice President, Rich Burrell, 2nd Vice President, Charlotte Burrell, Secretary. and Sharon Shaw, treasurer. Sharon

Coldren will remain Membership chairperson. You will be happy to know that Bob Shaw has agreed to remain as our Web master and News letter editor for the next year. Thanks to all of you for joining me in office for the following year.

There were also a couple other appointments made over the period of Saturday night and Sunday morning. I have also appointed Esther Rogers as head of our nominating committee, and Don Daly head of our Auditing committee. If I have missed anyone, believe me it is definitely an error. I am looking forward to my term in office and those that will serve with me.

I also want to thank those that were officers this year, they did a tremendous job.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy winter and will see you at the May rally next year. Safe and happy travels to all of you.

Thank you so much for electing me your new secretary. I know I'm going to have a very hard time living up to the wonderful job Elaine has done over the last several years. I don't know all of you really well yet, so please bear with me.

Please e-mail me if you know anyone who should be sent a card for any reason. I have sent get well cards to Georgie Smitka and Pat Lapham.

We had a great rally in Boonville and look forward to the Lancaster rally and the October dinner.

See you all there!

At a special meeting of the New York Centrals held at the Northeast Regional Rally, Charlie Schrenkel was made a member of our Chapter so he could represent us at Redmond, Oregon at the FMCA Governing Board meeting. Charlie attended the meeting and voted as we requested him to do.

“To defray the expenses of attending The Governing Board meeting each chapter voting representative who has registered for both morning and afternoon sessions of the Governing Board meeting will receive $120.00” This check was sent directly to Charlie.

We received a note from Charlie along with a check in the amount of $120.00.

“Since Charlie was reimbursed for going to Redmond as a member of the Executive Board, he would like the $120.00 for representing your chapter to go into your treasury. Thanks for having your chapter represented.”

Charlie & Jean Schrenkel

THANK YOU CHARLIE!! A note has been sent to him thanking him for representing our chapter and his generous donation.

Although the official minutes of the Governing Board meeting in Redmond, OR have not yet been received, It is my understanding that the following occurred:

1)     Chapters and areas will no longer receive FREE rally sign boards but they will be available for sale.

2)     Chapter prize package will decrease to the value of $110. Chapters may receive a banner or coffeepot instead of the annual prize package.

3)     Executive board travel has been decreased $42,500 and they will be reimbursed to attend one of their four meetings per year by the most economical method of travel.

4)     The January membership directory alpha and numeric listings will be discontinued.

5)     A policy and procedure was added to include a procedure for the event that if a budget is rejected at the Governing Board meeting, a mail ballot will be sent to the Governing Board members for their vote when the budget is reworked. Otherwise, if the budget is rejected and returned with no recommendation, it would then go to the Executive Committee for approval.

Step up to the PlateOver the past few years we have lost several very active members in the New York Centrals. This has created opportunities for our newer members to participate in club operations. We need Rally Hosts and/or Co Hosts, officers and officer helpers, committee chairs persons and more. You will get aid, advice and help from experienced members. We need you. It is your club. It is time to Step up to the Plate.

Volunteer

Volunteering takes up our time and energy. It can be hard work. It can find us doing and seeing new things, which can be challenging and even a little scary. So why does anyone even go there?

Volunteers make a difference.

Here are some of the things you might get in return for your giving:

  • Making new friends
  • Building confidence and self-esteem
  • Feeling satisfaction at getting things done and helping others
  • Meeting people
  • Using your mind, body, and creativity
  • Relieving stress
  • Fights boredom
  • Feeling like you’re part of the group
  • Having fun
